What Is Motion Cypher?
Motion Cypher is a visual puzzle and creative project built around one simple idea: look closer.
We create images that invite you to question what you see. A scene might appear ordinary at first, but look again and something has changed. An object has moved. A detail doesn’t quite belong. Something that seemed obvious suddenly becomes something worth investigating.
At the heart of Motion Cypher is the Spot the Difference Puzzles and from that the Beginners Eye Collection as an introduction to the concept.
But rather than treating it simply as a children’s puzzle or a page in a puzzle book, we approach the idea as a form of visual investigation. Our puzzles are designed around carefully constructed scenes, photography, composition and detail, encouraging you to slow down, compare, observe and work things out for yourself. Allot of our work is made possible thanks to the Blenderkit community and the fantastic artists from CGtrader.
Our images are not made with AI but with the use of CGI and Photoshop
Look. Compare. Decipher.
Motion Cypher began as an image-based game played through social media, where players are challenged to find changes hidden within visual scenes. Some challenges are designed to be solved casually; others introduce an element of competition, where observation, accuracy and speed can determine the outcome.
The name Motion Cypher reflects the underlying concept: something within an image has changed, and your task is to decipher what it is.
There is no complicated equipment or specialist knowledge required. Everything you need is in the image. The challenge is seeing it.
From Screens to Pages
Motion Cypher has also evolved beyond the screen.
Our physical puzzle books bring the same philosophy to a more traditional format, creating collections of visual challenges that can be enjoyed away from a phone or computer.
The books are designed to make observation the central activity. Rather than simply asking whether two pictures are different, some puzzles encourage you to think about position, perspective and spatial relationships — examining scenes from different viewpoints and working out what has moved.
This makes the puzzles entertaining, but also gives them an underlying emphasis on visual reasoning, attention to detail and spatial thinking.
A Different Kind of Puzzle
Motion Cypher isn’t about rushing through hundreds of identical puzzles. We are interested in the experience of looking at an image and gradually discovering that it isn’t quite what you first thought it was. A good puzzle should make you stop.
Then look again.
Then look closer.
Sometimes the answer is sitting in plain sight. Sometimes it takes a completely different way of looking at the scene to find it.
That moment of discovery is what Motion Cypher is built around.
More Than Finding Differences
Although Spot the Difference is at the centre of Motion Cypher, the wider project is about visual perception.
It’s about how easily we overlook details, how our brains interpret scenes, and how changing a seemingly small element can alter the way we understand an image.
Through games, visual challenges and books, Motion Cypher explores that idea in different ways — combining creativity with observation and turning the simple act of looking into something more engaging.
Look closer. Question what you see. Play detective and Decipher the change.
That is Motion Cypher.
