Motion Cypher — Terms of Service
Effective Date: 1 May 2025
Last Modified: 15 May 2025
Motion Cypher is a UK-based creative project offering downloadable visual puzzles and image-based games. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your participation in all visual challenges, downloads, submissions, and prize-based activities hosted by Motion Cypher (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By accessing, downloading, or interacting with any part of this website, our content, or our social media channels, you agree to the following terms:
1. Eligibility
- All participants must be 18 years or older to access downloadable content or enter any prize-based challenges.
- By submitting answers or making purchases, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.
- You must have an active Instagram account and be following our official Instagram page to be eligible for any rewards or prizes. This is non-negotiable.
2. Changes to Terms
- We may update these Terms at any time. A cover note outlining specific changes will be posted to our official social media channels.
- However, it is still your responsibility to check this page regularly for full and up-to-date terms.
3. Data Collection and Handling
- When you place an order, we collect personal data such as your name, email address, and order details. This is processed under the lawful basis of Performance of a Contract, allowing us to fulfil your order, provide access to digital content, and send relevant order communications.
- All collected data is handled in accordance with standard data protection principles and is stored securely using encrypted protocols where applicable. No personal data is sold, distributed, or misused under any circumstances.
- Certain data is also retained to meet our Legal Obligations, including accounting and tax record-keeping
- We may request a social media identifier (e.g., Instagram handle) solely for the purposes of user eligibility verification and prize issuance.
- Aggregated or anonymised versions of user identifiers may be used for public statistics, such as “most wins” or “most plays.” These are never linked to full personal profiles or other identifiable data.
4. Image & Content Ownership
- All images, challenges, and content are the intellectual property of Motion Cypher.
- Copying, modifying, redistributing, or using any part of our content outside the intended game format is strictly prohibited.
- When you purchase a puzzle or image set, it is yours to keep for personal enjoyment. You may print it, frame it, and hang it at home or in your office — but we still retain all ownership rights.
5. Gameplay Rules
- You do not need to find every difference or deduction — only as many correct ones as you can.
- Incorrect answers will void your entire submission. Correct answers only.
- Winning is determined by:
- Number of correct answers
- Time of submission (first come, first served)
- Submissions with all correct answers rank above faster but less complete submissions
- Some games may last up to 48 hours. Others may be open for as little as 1 hour. Speed matters.
- More gameplay details are available on the CypherLaw page.
- Only the person who purchased the puzzle may submit answers unless otherwise specified in public games posted on Instagram or TikTok.
- In public Instagram or TikTok-led games, you may submit more than once.
- We never typically reveal the answers. This is art — you interpret, infer, and deduce. We may indicate a range when launching a new Cypher (e.g., “between 15 and 20 differences”), but not exact details.
6. Cypher Availability
- All Motion Cypher image sets are time-limited and released for a specific period only.
- Once a Cypher is taken down or archived, it will not be made available again in any format, digital or physical.
- Players are responsible for securing their download during the active window.
7. Submission and Rewards
- Most games require submission via a form with an access code received upon purchase.
- If we cannot reach you or you fail to respond to our attempt to issue a reward, your prize will be voided after 7 days.
- The next Cypher challenge will usually be live by that time and rewards will not carry over.
- We do not constantly chase winners — we will try to message you via social media if you do not reply we will give up.
8. Payment, Access & Refunds
- Some puzzles are paid, typically at low cost (e.g. £1), and unlock high-quality image downloads.
- Other games may be completely free and posted to Instagram or TikTok. In those cases, answers must be submitted as comments unless otherwise stated.
- Copying others’ answers is allowed in public games, but be warned: copied answers may be wrong, wasting time and reducing your chances.
- Payments are paid out in (GBP) and subject to Fees and Exchange rates.
- No refunds are offered for any purchases. Once a digital product is accessed or downloaded, it cannot be returned or revoked. Additionally, game-based content is time-sensitive and knowledge-based, which prevents fair reselling or refunding once accessed. Please ensure you are ready to play before purchasing.
- The time frame for all of this is within 48hrs of competition closing; before the winner is notified. We aim to do things within the same day ideally.
9. Fair Play & Security
- Each game entry is linked to a single use. Do not share your access code or downloadable content.
- Multiple submissions, cheating, collaboration beyond rules, or the use of bots or spam entries may result in disqualification or a permanent ban.
- Winners are disclosed on social media stories for transparency, the names used will be that of the handle/@ name. They’re released in a type leaderboard format with Gold (1st), Silver (2nd), Bronze (3rd) on social media stories for 24hrs before going down.
- Answers are typically revealed on social media too.
- AI-generated answers, may include hallucinations and inaccuracies from the AI model and is frowned upon.
10. Game Access & Behaviour
Downloadable puzzles are yours to keep. You may display them, but you may not resell, share, or distribute them without permission.
Some games may require real-world exploration or visits. Please act responsibly and ensure your own safety. We accept no liability for any incidents or risks.
11. Payouts
- Winners may receive digital vouchers or cash via PayPal. A valid PayPal account may be required to claim certain prizes.
- Payouts are typically processed within hours after the competition ends, up to a maximum of 48 hours.
